South Fayette Township is an Allegheny County community of about 18,400 people that includes Morgan, Cuddy, Sturgeon and Boyce, along with newer neighborhoods. It sits along Interstate 79 just across the county line from our office in Cecil Township, Washington County.
How we help South Fayette families
South Fayette has grown quickly, and many families who moved in during the last few years have never made an estate plan. Heather N. Kostrub can help you put the basics in place.
- A will that names who receives your property and who cares for your children
- A financial power of attorney and health care directive
- A trust if you want to keep your estate out of probate
- Help with probate after a parent dies
We also help with contracts, new businesses and property questions.
Allegheny County offices you may deal with
Allegheny County does not have a separate Register of Wills office. The Wills/Orphans’ Court Division of the Department of Court Records does that work. It is on the first floor of the City-County Building, 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh. Deeds are recorded with the county’s Department of Real Estate.
Older parts of the township
The older villages in South Fayette grew up around coal and the railroad. On older parcels, coal, oil or gas rights may have been sold separately from the surface long ago. If you get a lease offer or find an old reservation in your deed, Daniel B. Kostrub can explain what it means. See our mineral rights page.
Questions South Fayette residents ask
We just bought a house. Do we really need wills now?
If you have children, a home or any savings, yes. Without a will, Pennsylvania law decides who inherits and the court picks a guardian. Our article how to make a will in Pennsylvania explains the rules.
Is your office in Allegheny County?
No. We are just over the line in Cecil Township, Washington County. We help clients in both counties.
